The Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIASC) is a nonprofit trade association representing nearly 1,000 member companies. Our mission is to promote and protect the industry to ensure our members’ success in providing homes for all Southern Californians.
Home ownership not only strengthens our families, it also stabilizes communities and fosters economic prosperity.
With new homes come new schools, new fire stations, parks and cultural centers. Our members – builders, subcontractors, remodelers, designers, architects, engineers – all work together to build communities for families to call home.
New homes . . .
. . . contribute to the economy.
In 2008, our industry stimulated the region's economy by producing nearly $11 billion of residential construction (both new and remodel) in Southern California. Overall, the entire housing industry contributed more than $24 billion to the region's economy in 2008.
. . . provide jobs.
Nearly 100,000 people in Southern California work on home construction. Thousands more work with the industry, such as engineers, architects and designers.
. . . increase local revenues.
New homes generate sales and property tax revenues for local municipalities, in addition to monies from other fees.
. . . provide natural preserves, wetlands and open space.
California builders set aside as many as three acres of open space for every acre of new housing.
. . . renew urban areas.
New housing revitalizes cities and preserves urban neighborhoods.
BIASC works diligently to support its members so that more Southern California families may realize the American Dream of home ownership.
